What is remy hair?

Remy hair is one of the highest grade of hair for hair extensions, and it is human, not synthetic hair.

The most common spelling is “Remy”, although many people also search for it as “Remi” hair.

“Remy” refers to human hair harvested from the scalp where the cuticle is kept pointed in the same direction as the hairs next to it.

Because all the hair flows naturally from the same direction, Remy hair stays silkier and softer. The advantage to Remy hair is it is less prone to tangles and knotting.

At Ustar, we prefer 100% Remy human hair for our hair extensions.

What Is Non Remy?

Non Remy hair is human hair that is collected from multiple sources. Non Remy is sold in its raw state and also as a finished product. In raw form the cuticles are intact but they flow in opposite directions. This can cause tangling and quality issues if not processed properly.

Non-remy hair is less expensive than remy hair,non-remy is hair that does not have it’s roots aligned (Roots and tips not traveling in the same direction).

Since the cuticle runs in both directions it requires a higher concentration of acid. Eventually resulting in hair with very low moisture, leading to dry straw-like hair.

What Is The Difference Between Remy And Non Remy Hair?

Remy human hair extensions also tend to be the most popular types of human hair extension on the market  since the cuticles are kept intact unlike most other non-remy hair extensions. Aligning and preserving the hair cuticles in a unilateral direction ensures the natural look and feel of hair extensions.

1.The most difference between remy and non remy is the hair quality:REMY hair is a smoother, shinier, and healthier appearance than NON-REMY.

With non-remy hair extensions, the collection process varies so cuticle directions become mixed, leading to inevitable matting, tangling and shedding problems.

In contrast, Remy human hair is collected through a method in which the hair strands are completely aligned in the natural direction as it grew.  This provides a natural look, feel and smooth texture that is comparable to one’s own hair.

2.Then is the hair price of them:Remy hair is more expensive and looks more natural due to the tedious process that the hair goes through to not damage the cuticle. Usually virgin hair or hair that has been minimally processed to protect the integrity of the hair has cuticle in tact.

3.Next difference between them is how long they can last:High quality remy hair extensions will last you anywhere from 6-12 months up to a year or even longer,While the non-remy hair may initially feel silky and soft, after a number of washes the silicone coating used to keep it super smooth eventually wears off, leaving the hair feeling harsh and brittle.

4.The last you should consider whether the hair is easy to take care of:Remy hair is easy to maintain its texture, luster and natural look. While, since the cuticle runs in both directions it requires a higher concentration of acid, this can cause tangling and quality issues .

Why Don’t Recommend You Choose Non-Remy Hair?

While the non-remy hair may initially feel silky and soft, after a number of washes the silicone coating used to keep it super smooth eventually wears off, leaving the hair feeling harsh and brittle. So you must take are of remy hair just as your own hair.

With NON-REMY the hair cuticles are stripped usually from over processing and the hair is thrown together which causes tangling.

Remember, yes the investment is much lower however you will struggle with this hair after you wash it the first time. The hair will matte and look dull once the coating has worn off.

What Is Virgin Hair?

Virgin hair is more rigorous standard than other hair types. It's totally 100% unprocessed human original hair in any way, also chemical free. Has not been permed, not been colored, not been dyed and bot been bleached.

All the hair pieces are cut and collected from a single donor, so all the cuticles are unidirectional direction and intact. Because the specialty, wearing this hair just as feel your own hair. With proper and regular hair care, the lifespan of virgin human hair can last for at least 6 months, even one year. By the way, virgin hair also can be named as 100 percent human hair.

What Is The Difference Between Remy And Virgin Hair?

Many of us think remy is same as virgin hair. But it is wrong. Here is the difference between remy hair and virgin hair.

One thing they both have in common are that they are 100% human hair. Virgin Hair has not been processed by any harsh chemicals.

Another is that this hair comes from one donor. As we’ve mentioned before virgin hair has not been affected by any bleaches, this also includes perms and color dye.

The main difference is that the donor for Remy hair more than likely used to dye, bleach, or treat their tresses, while the donor for virgin hair didn’t use any chemicals at all and will always come as it is without having to be rearranged.

What Are The Advantages Of Remy Hair Over Synthetic Hair?

Remy human hair extensions can be dyed, styled, curled, straightened, and washed just like your own natural hair. Hair extensions made from synthetic hair cannot be heat styled like your real hair. They do not blend as well with your real hair, and can easily be detected by their artificial sheen.

Types Of Remy Hair

There are various types of Remy hair extensions or wigs on the market available, such as Brazilian remy hair , Peruvian remy , Indian remy , Malaysian remy and etc.

Each type of remy weave is characterized by a particular texture and comes in multiple wave patterns including straight, wavy, deep wave or tight curly.

What Is The Difference Between Remy And Brazilian Hair?

The main difference you will notice is that Brazilian Hair is thicker and coarser than Remy hair. Brazilian remy hair has a very large density and comes in a wide range of colors and lengths.

Since it has been chemically processed you will often see a shinier or silkier texture compared to Remy hair. Remy extensions will come in more natural black colors since they are not dyed or processed beforehand.

If you ask me which Remy hair is the best?IMy answer is Brazilian remy human hair.

Where Does Remy Human Hair Come From?

The majority of human hair used in wigs and extensions comes from India and China. Religious people make pilgrimages to temples such as the Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, India, where they shave/tonsure their heads in a ritual of devotion.

Is Remy Hair Good Quality?

Remy Hair is the greatest and most affordable when it comes down to its quality. The reason being is that the hair’s cuticles are kept intact and are going to be facing the same direction no matter what.

When all the extensions hair is flowing in the same direction, you are less likely to experience complications such as tangles or matting. You also have the option of blending the weave to your natural roots.

How Long Does Remy Human Hair Last?

Cuticle hair is more durable and will last longer than other types of hair. Remy cuticle hair will also hold styling from heat and chemical products better, as the cuticle will hold shape better than other hair extensions.

Always choose real remy human hair extensions as you will be able to heat style and wash them just like your own hair. High quality remy hair extensions will last you anywhere from 6-12 months up to a year or even longer, depending on how often you wear them and how well you take care of them.

How Do You Take Care Of Remy Hair?

Washing your Remy hair extensions is important because the moisture from your hair care products will make your hair shine and look lovely. Remember to wash and condition your hair every three to five days. When you do wash your hair use a conditioner that will moisturize your tresses and a shampoo that's gentle.

Can Remy Hair Be Washed?

It's crucial that you wash your extensions at least once a week to keep them free of odors, pollution and styling residue. The hair follicles are most delicate when they are wet, allowing your hair to air dry prior to brushings will increase the lifespan of your natural remy hair extensions.

Can Remy Human Hair Be Curled?

You can heat style your remy hair extensions just as you do with your natural hair, and blow-dry, curl and straighten them, but keep in mind human hair extensions will damage just like your own hair. You should always use a heat protector spray before applying hot curling and straightening irons to any extension hair.

Can Remy Hair Be Dyed?

Because virgin Remy hair extensions have not been chemically processed in any way, they can be dyed with minimal damage to the hair. While it's best to avoid overly harsh chemicals, virgin Remy extensions can be lightened or darkened as natural hair. Experts advise that you don't attempt to dye non-Remy hair weaves.

Can Remy Hair Be Bleached?

Some are surprised to realize that you can indeed bleach your Remy hair. There are a few precautions first that you may need to consider. First, bleaching your Remy hair will take several tries. Since this hair is authentic and real it will dye just as your natural curls would.

Second, Bleaching Remy hair may cause damage and decrease the life expectancy on the weave. Dying your hair won’t strip it if it’s natural colors or strength like bleaching would. I suggest always doing a strand test first or going to a hair salon to get an expert feedback on how to treat and bleach your Remy hair.
